WHAT: The Orange County Fairgrounds Preservation Society is holding a news conference to thank the Governor for rejecting the bids and OCFPS will work hard to support efforts to ensure the fairgrounds will remain public so we have transparency and openness for the future of the governance of the Orange County Fairgrounds.
WHERE: OC Fairgrounds
88 Fair Drive
Costa Mesa, CA
(On the Fairgrounds at Centennial Farm)
DATE: Thursday, March 18, 2010
TIME: 10:00 am – 10:30 am
WHY: The Orange County Fairgrounds Preservation Society has dedicated thousands of hours over the past six months to gather and deliver more than 50,000 postcards from Orange County residents to the Governor asking him to stop the sale. We have built a coalition of local residents, business leaders, the equestrian community, non-profit organizations and our elected officials to urge the Governor to Derail the Sale! We are so pleased that he heard our cries for justice and decided not to sell the property for 25 cents on the dollar. We support the City’s and County’s efforts to purchase the fairgrounds to ensure it will remain a public asset in perpetuity.
Great Visuals: Orange County residents, Local Business Owners, the Equestrian Community and others will gather to thank the Governor and our many supporters and ask that Governor Schwarzenegger either cancel the sale entirely or negotiate an arrangement with the City and/or County to ensure the property remains in the public trust.
